Groupwise to Gmail Migration Status Updates:
UPDATE: June 19th, 2012:
The migration should be finished. If you need to get into groupwise for any reason, remember to use gw2gmail as the password
UPDATE: June 14th, 2012:
Use gmail.lomira.k12.wi.us to access your e-mail. E-mail messages sent out tonight may or may not work with groupwise. They will work with gmail.
UPDATE: JUNE 11th, 2012:
All of the new e-mail accounts have been created in gmail. Your e-mail address is the same as it was before and everyone's gmail password is gmail53048. After a successful login, you will be prompted to change your password. Browse to gmail.lomira.k12.wi.us to access the gmail inbox
Next Step: Late in the afternoon or evening on Thursday June 14th, we will switch our mail record over to gmail. This process will take the rest of the day Thursday and into Friday. For us to be able to run the migration, all GROUPWISE passwords will need to change as well. On Thursday June 14th at approximately 3:00 PM all Groupwise passwords will be changed to gw2gmail
What happens on and after Friday: Users will not be able to use Groupwise to send or receive messages outside of the school district. Users will need to use gmail to send and receive outside of the district. Beginning on Friday, we will begin to migrate old messages from Groupwise into Gmail. The process will probably take a week or so. As your account is migrated, you will start to see your messages and folders from Groupwise appear in your gmail inbox and folders
What happens to Groupwise on and after Friday the 15th? You will still be able to login to groupwise to view any old messages. The only thing is you will not be able to send or receive messages in Groupwise.
Contacts: If you want to import any of your existing contacts into Gmail please follow the steps in this youtube tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImUVonjs1HI
I know this is a ton of techie info. Please let me know if you have any questions
The migration is set to start on Friday, June 15, 2012. Please remember to go through your old emails and delete any that you no longer need before then. Check back here for updates once the migration starts. -Posted Monday, June 4, 2012
