As we give our best effort to staying open for in-person learning five days a week we continue to be pleased by the fairly stable numbers we are seeing in terms of positive cases amongst our student body. Our local health department continues to tell us our schools are amongst the safest places students can go because of our safety efforts.
I often get asked what would prompt us to close. That answer is always the same. A staffing shortage (teachers and support staff) would most likely be the first thing that would prompt us to close. We are only as good and as successful as the invaluable staff members who work with your children on a daily basis. We need them to be safe and healthy in order for them to do their jobs. Our staff of subs are a critical part of that team and we have excellent subs in all four buildings. We just don't have a very deep bench right now.
If you have ever thought about being a sub, we could use extra people in our pool of talent in a variety of roles in order to help us stay open and continue to provide in-person learning. It is the most flexible part time job around and our staff is putting together great lesson plans, daily schedules, and duty outlines that are very easy to follow. Our grade level and department teammates do a very nice job of supporting you with any questions as well. Plus, we really have great kids.
If your schedule allows for this type of work, feel free to email me at blloyd@lomira.k12.wi.us and I can provide further details.
